Fanny Hancock's father, Ebenezer Hancock, was cousin to the famous John Hancock. Born in 1785, Fanny sewed her sampler at age 11. She married Nathaniel Parker of Boston in 1803, and died in 1834. The colors on the back side of her sampler retained much of their original brilliance, and are reproduced here.

Origin and date: Boston, 1796. Rated: Beginning. Linen count and finished size: 30 count, 9" x 11 1/4". Stitches: Cross, eyelet, stem, satin.

5 stars out of 5 from United States Tiny United States flag on 12/17/2022 - Easy sampler
This would be a great “first” sampler, easy to do, well-printed, and you can change the name at the bottom to your own or a grandmother’s.
