While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Five stars for the design, which is beautiful. But there are a LOT of colors, many very close in tone and difficult to distinguish. To make it even more challenging, the floss comes in a bundle, unsorted. So it takes quite a bit of time and good lighting to figure out what color corresponds to which symbol. (The beads are mostly unsorted, but they're in a couple different bags with distinctly different colors together in a bag.) So imagine my annoyance when I discovered that there was a floss color missing! And because there are so many tones of the same color, it was impossible for me to determine which color was missing. They do give the DMC number, but they give them their own names that are relative to each other, e.g. "light blue", "very light blue", "medium blue" (8 blues total)... How can I tell which is which unless I see them together to compare? Here's where it gets even worse: 123Stitch was COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE when I called and asked for a resolution. I thought this would be simple: just send a few strands of the questionable colors, or send me a new kit. How much would that have cost them? Instead, they said they'd contact the vendor and *I* should call *THEM* back in a few days. Long story short, I've called them FOUR TIMES over the past month and they've done NOTHING. I finally had to call the manufacturer to get the proper thread sent to me. But now it's too late to complete this for Christmas. I am VERY disappointed in 123Stitch and won't be placing any more orders with them. I expect a store to stand behind the products they sell and take it up with their vendor later, not leave me stuck with the inferior product. Of course, this would have been much simpler if the product had come with the threads sorted in the first place.

I havent started yet but it is a beautiful kit. The canvas holes are smaller than what Im used to and thats why I havent begun. I have a larger hole canvas but not the same navy color as kit

This is very pretty design and kit! Love Jim Shore - bright colors, good quality canva, threads, beads. I have all set - Christmas tree, Santa and reindeer!

The pattern is easy to follow and works up fairly quickly. The thread come all grouped together and there is nothing to help sort them besides color names. It's harder and more time consuming than most kits to sort, but not impossible. There is pleanty of thread and pleanty of beads to finish the project.
