While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

I'm working on Jim Shore's Snowman with Cardinal ornament. So far I'm enjoying working on it. I do like Jim Shore designs. They are a challenge, but I like challenging work. I have arthritis in my hands so it's a little more challenging at times. I just like counted cross stitch.

I've always loved Jim Shore crossstitch designs. Have made Mill Hill Santas for years and with a new generation coming along I decided I'd look for snowmen. His designs in snowmen, Angel's and santas are wonderfully detailed.

I find this cross stitch to be much more difficult than what I am use to! That doesn’t make it bad
but takes a little more time to do. The reason is because of all the different colors in an area and some
colors have only one stitch-very easy to miss and then have to go back and pick it up! The end product
is very cute.
