Color is a matte white. No shine but just what you need for a "chalk" like color of white.

I purchased the thread, but wound up returning it. There was nothing wrong with the item. For me, the thread was just a bright white. A little too bright for the project that I had in mind. I wound up going with another floss that was more subtle, Oatmeal (The Gentle Art Sampler Threads).

Great looking seasonal/monthly small cross stitch patterns that are easy to do and so beautiful when finished!

This is ideal for chalkboard looking projects. However, if you want to save a little money a very light grey or white DMC will be perfectly acceptable. I choose to use this, but someone else would probably not recognize the difference

I am using this thread in a sampler as the border and interior divisions. It is a beautiful white with just a hint of color. I think it will be perfect. I am a fan of all Gentle Art threads.
