Note from the designer - This sampler was inspired by Mary Ann Green's lovely sampler, which is part of my collection. Mary Ann stitched her sampler in 1838, and a small photo of her sampler is included in the package. This adaptation, while not a reproduction, borrows heavily from Mary Ann's sampler. I kept the verse she used, Preserve me Lord amidst the crowd from every thought that's vain and proud, and raise my wandering eyes to see how good it is to trust in Thee. However, I made changes to the border and some of the motifs, especially the deer. I also changed many of the thread colors.

The model was stitched on 36-count Antique Ivory linen (#233) from Zweigart, Inc. using Needlepoint, Inc. silk threads. DMC substitutions are given for the silk threads. This sampler can also be stitched on aida.

Stitch count: 222 wide x 318 high

Stitches used: cross stitch and backstitch. Stitch diagrams and detailed stitching directions are provided.
