Not only do I love the colors Agness used to stitch her sampler but I love how she ran out of room to stitch the date 1844 so she moved the last 4 up to another line.
The verse on this sampler is from "O Christmas Tree" a German Christmas song written in 1824 by Ernst Anschutz. This song was based off a 16th century Silesian Folksong by Melchior Franck called Ach Tannenbaum. Third in the series of samplers with lots of fun stitches.

The saying on this sampler was written by Alexander Pope (1688-1744) who is considered to be one of the greatest English poets of the 18th century. Sarah stitched this sampler on 50 count linen and it was perfectly executed.

This delightful pair of English samplers are a low-cost stitch, as they are stitched entirely in DMC on "Vintage Country Mocha". I think they'd be wonderful to customize as birth samplers, or you could stitch the central motifs as pin-pillows.
