This colorful design was inspired by a 16th century tablecloth made up of 324 squares that are all different patterns. In creating my cross stitch interpretation, I decided to go all in and use 324 colors of DMC. So many stitchers have a full DMC collection, why not use a whole bunch in one project?... Read more
During my recent research on color theory and the history of color wheels, I began musing on different ways to express the relationships between colors. This design is the result of that brainstorming!

In my explorations of old embroidery books, I came across a number of rug designs in a book from 1880. While they were intended as inspiration for woven carpet patterns, I realized that a blackwork design could also show off the dynamic beauty of the geometry.
One of the earliest signs of spring are daffodils shooting up from the ground. When I see them, I know that the cold and darkness of winter is nearly behind me and beautiful flowers of all types and colors are on their way. Upon seeing a field of daffodils on an early spring walk one day, I knew... Read more

In my constant researching about lace, including how it was created and how it was used over time, I am often encountering images of lace fans in museum collections, typically from the 18th and 19th centuries. I decided it was time to add a lace fan to my lace series of cross stitch designs!

So, why not go to the next level? I am excited to share with you 365: A Year in Stitches. Each of the 365 circles in this design... Read more
Irises are one of my favorite flowers. As I lean towards purples and blues in general, perhaps this is not a surprise. So, it was high time that I designed a cross stitch pattern featuring this flower. An extra bonus that I recently learned: irises are the state flower of Tennessee. How perfect then... Read more
My lace design series are all patterns that have been inspired by old pieces of lace. A number of stitchers have shared with me their wish for a design in this series that would be a little smaller than many of the others, and so the idea for Lovely Lace was born.
I enjoy doing color experiments in my designs and this pattern is the result of one. Using the highly variegated Weeks Dye Works Bethlehem with one coordinating DMC for each circle, it is so fun to see how a solid color brings out the different shades that make up the variegated thread.
After releasing my cross stitch pattern 324 (which was stitched with 324 different colors of DMC) last year, I began stitching a new version featuring the same colors but with various types of stitches. Initially something I was creating just for myself, it soon became apparent that there was great... Read more
Peace, in all senses of the word, is needed in our world and perhaps stitching a design that includes that word in 20 different languages can help remind us of that.

I found an interesting square design in a centuries-old pattern book, where it seemed like the square would have been rotated around and used four times. However, it was unclear which corner would have been in the middle and which would have been on the outer edge. After playing with it for a bit,... Read more

I have sometimes found inspiration for a new cross stitch design when looking at quilt patterns and that was certainly the case when I spotted a 2-toned Mariner's Compass block at a quilt show. This design lends itself to any two colors that appeal to the stitcher.
