"A Royal Affair" is an amalgamation of traditional sampler styles from both the Netherlands and Scotland, using traditional alphabets, borders, and motifs, but coming together in a playful way. This monochrome design features only full crosses and can be stitched on any counted material of our choice. Stitch count is 145 x 209. Finished size on 28 ct is 10.36" x 14.93".
This is the sampler of Lammegien Pot, a girl born in the province of Drenthe in the Netherlands. Drenthe samplers are relatively unknown, so to have one in my personal collection is quite special. The pattern features only full crosses and can be stitched on any counted material. Stitch count is 193 x 137. Finished size on 28 ct is 13.79" x 9.79".

This is a faithful period reproduction of an 18th century sampler from one of the Germanic countries or perhaps even the Netherlands (where it was purchased). The sampler shows various elongated motifs which might have been used as models for knitting.

This charming sampler was worked by Gerritje Broekhuis in 1848, who also worked a sampler in 1857 (which is also available here). The sampler features only full crosses and has no specialty stitches, and can be worked on any material (linen, aida etc).
