This is an adapted reproduction of an antique English sampler, dated 1790. The sampler was embroidered by Maria Cooper in Hambledon.
The model was stitched over 2 threads on 40 Ct. Grey linen by Weeks Dye Works with Weeks Dye Works floss, Gentle Art Sampler threads and Classic Colorworks floss. Stitch Count: 361W x 405H. Finished size: 18" x 20 1/4".
The original sampler was stitched in 1812 in Troy, N.Y. The reproduction model was stitched on an Antique White #28 linen over one thread. The stitch count is: 80 W x 109 H and the finished size over one is: 2.8" W x 3.8" H. The following colors were used: Weeks Dye Works - Kentucky Bluegrass and Verdigris, and Hickory Sticks and Tiny Vine from Classic Colorworks.
