These needles feel great in the hand and slide through fabric like butter. The gold finish seems to wear well, too - unlike the gold-plated DMC needles, which seem to flake off entirely after about 10 hours of use. Oddly enough, both the eye and shank seem slimmer than my other brands size 26's, so they're actually a bit too small for my current Aida project - but I'll definitely be using them for detail work backstitching, etc. and other projects with a finer weave fabric.

The gold needles take the edge off of a pattern that is very multi-colored. John James needles are fine they provide a large needle hold, strength and sharpness.
