While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

from United States on 12/31/2021 - Unusual for Mill Hill kit Surprised to receive this kit and have Four of the thread colors missing. I had to run to local Joann's and purchase colors needed , also the colors are very very close and difficult to know which is which when using them. I think mill hill could have done better on labeling threads in this particular kit. Other than that, looking forward to finishing this project.

Thank you 123 Stitch for locating this kit for me. I received it very fast and it was so nice of them to locate this older kit for me. I am working on it and I love â¤ï¸ it 😊so much.

I do a Christmas cross stitch every year and this one will be particularly fun because of the colors. Also, the beads and other embellishments will make the finished piece something very special. I have a rule about finishing one project before starting another, so I need to get busy!
