While we still have kits in stock with Perforated Paper, newer Mill Hill kits are now being made with Perforated PVC. We were skeptical at first, but here's what our testing has revealed so far:
1. Perforated PVC looks and feels nearly identical to perforated paper, and nothing like plastic canvas. It's sturdy and easy to hold, and is slightly harder to bend.
2. Our needle and thread glide just as smoothly through the new PVC as they do through paper, and finished stitches on both materials look nearly identical.
3. The new PVC is some sturdy stuff. It's much harder to tear than the paper, so you can pull your threads as tight as you want without having to worry about deforming holes or ripping. We also expect the PVC to be more resistant to decay and yellowing.
All in all, while (like many in the community) we were originally hesitant about this change, our first impressions have been very positive.

Another Mill Hill Snow Globe. It’s cute and relatively easy to do. I do back all my cross stitch kits with felt that has the recipients name and year on it. A personal touch for a cute kit. Highly recommend.

I’ve done many stitching projects before, but this was the first with beading added. It was great fun & the beading added a lot to the outcome. I made it for my granddaughter for their family tree, as she often bakes a gingerbread house at Christmas.

Another super cute snow globe. Really enjoyed stitching this. The candy roofline was a bit of a challenge to get the beads to lay straight so I would suggest using the petite of the one used in the kit if you have them.
