Cross stitch pattern by Scarlet Letter that is a reproduction of a Dutch sampler from the German Sampler Museum.

Pattern is stitched on 35 ct linen using Soie d'Alger silk threads with DMC conversion. Stitch count is 276 x 255. Finished size is 15.77" x 14.57".

This is a very fine example of an early northern Dutch sampler called a letterndoek, or alphabet sampler. The illuminated letters are typical of northern Holland needleworks. Symbolic spot motifs include dogs, a stag, trees of life, and paired birds.

Model stitched on 36 ct Straw from Weeks Dye Works using Weeks Dye Works threads. Stitch count is 298w x 366h. Finished size is 16.56" x 20.33".

A charming Autumn sampler done for a friend who doesn't like to go too Halloweeny!

Pattern is stitched on 36 ct Wren from Picture This Plus using Gentle Arts and Classic Colorworks threads. Stitch count is 192 x 180. Finished size is 10.7" x 10".

"Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still and watch the leaves turn" Elizabeth Lawrence 1644-1720. Second in the series of samplers with lots of fun stitches to enjoy!

Pattern is stitched on 32 ct linen using Gentle Arts threads. Stitch count is 187 x 178. Finished size is 11.7" x 11.2".

This sampler has no name on it so I lovlingly, refer to it as the Black Cat sampler. I believe the original was crafted in England. There are two sets of initials on the sampler but I have not been able to determine if they are that of the stitchers.
